LIE #68: The November 2012 Index



So jeez, what the hell happened in November? And why does it take me so long to post about it?
Houseguests crashing over because of Hurricane Sandy, much mental turbulence due to the job search, houseguests bringing over rare films, heat waves, cold fronts, visiting friends I haven’t seen in a while, living a genuine life not just a vicarious one,
plenty of DVDs thrown into my lap via the lovely folks at the New York Public Library (love ya!), and
a delicious Thanksgiving dinner (cooked by yours truly*) almost ruined by psychotic relatives…

Oh, the usual…

Lists! Lists! Lists! (That’s to be said in the same manner Kurtwood Smith snickers, “Guns! Guns! Guns!” in the classic Robocop.)
Jeez, I watch a bunch of movies, it seems.
But that’s what happens when you’re looking for work…

INDEX: Got Them End of July Blues…


July is over, and it’s time to huff some scorpion and round up what’s being watched.
While a high proportion of films were screened as a result of the aftermath of the Best Films Alfred Hitchcock Never Made blogathon, and several on-line-only films were watched as part of “crossing off the list,” the rest were almost all seen via our good friends at the New York Public Library.
Most of the “classic” movies watched, for instance, were “holds” that all seemed to arrive at the same time. Not that I’m complaining….

INDEX: Three More Potential “Outer Limits” Episodes; and the Other Films of the First Half of July 2012







As I have mentioned before (in my post about They Live being the “best episode of Outer Limits never made”), there are decent, original flicks that are some variation on the sci-fi and horror genres 

that sometimes beg, no—scream out for the cutting room treatment, where, had they been trimmed to the average length of a one-hour TV show (48 to 52 minutes, depending on commercials), they would be perfect.
